About Wisconsin XVIII
Wisconsin Dells is located in South Central Wisconsin approximately a 1 hour drive north west of Madison. Wisconsin Dells became popular for the Wisconsin River and sand stone sculptures along the banks of the river.
In the mid nineties local business men started building indoor water parks. Now Wisconsin Dells is known as the “Water Park Capital of the World”. With several multi-million dollar resorts that have indoor and outdoor water-parks, Wisconsin Dells is Mid-West’s most popular tourist destination.
The village of Lake Delton borders Wisconsin Dells and is mistakenly referred to as Wisconsin Dells. Wisconsin Dells and the Village of Lake Delton have a population of five thousand year round residents. Wisconsin Dells caters to over three million tourists per year.
The tourism industry brings a lot of bikers to Wisconsin Dells. Having a Blue Knights Chapter in Wisconsin Dells made a lot of sense. President Jody Ward, the Assistant Chief of Police for the City of Wisconsin Dells, and avid biker started Wisconsin XVIII in October of 2007.
One unique fact about Wisconsin Dells is that the city is actually in 4 counties. Columbia County, Sauk County, Adams County and Juneau County. With the interstate going through Wisconsin Dells, State Patrol is also usually in the area. Our Chapter hopes to have members represented from all the counties and Law Enforcement agencies in and around our city.
Members of our Chapter include current officers from the Wisconsin Dells Police Department, Lake Delton Police Department, Columbia County Sheriff’s Department , Sauk County Sheriff’s Department, Shorewood Hills Police Department and the Gurnee Illinois Police Department. Also, retirees from the Baraboo Police Department, Racine Police Department, Milwaukee Police Department and Maple Bluff Police Department.
